South West Regional Meeting 2016

This year’s South West Regional Meeting happened on the 26th October at the Royal Mint in South Wales.

The meeting started with a talk from the Chief Executive of the AVA, Jonathan Hart, who spoke about some of the big issues that will affect the vending industry such as the proposed sugar tax, the new £1 coin that is due to be launched in March 2017 and the new £5 and £10 notes.  He also discussed some of our future plans such as a legal helpline, HR advice service and out new Electrical Training Programme.  Additionally, he talked about our upcoming events which you can see in the ‘meetings & events’ section of our website.

Our first guest speaker was Andy Mee from Business Doctors.  Andy gave a captivating presentation titled: Employee Engagement – The Electricity That Makes Everything Else Multiply.  It was very interesting to hear his take on how to treat employees to improve your business overall and it was something that was beneficial to everyone.

The second guest speaker was Rhodri Ryland who gave us an update from the Royal Mint. The main focus of his talk was about the new 12 sided £1 coin that is due to come into circulation in March 2017.  Rhodri spoke about how the Royal Mint is working with businesses to make sure that they have the knowledge to deal with the issues they may face with the new coin.
